Wein or vino?

Are we in Austria or Slovenia?

Somewhere on the border of Austria and Slovenia, we find ourselves at a picturesque spot full of vineyards. The address says Austria; our phones say Slovenia. We’re really somewhere in-between, on top of one of the Tuscan hills.

Winery and Landgut Pößnitzberg

The place to relax and taste wines - we’re staying at Landgut Pößnitzberg for three days. Overlooking the vineyards, bees buzzing - we’re in the middle of a natural area, but it still feels so luxurious.

Besides the wines of course, we were very impressed by the giant breakfast buffet. There’s where you can find the results of the bees on the venue: this must be the best honey I ever tasted. Everything was so fresh and local. The breakfast alone would be a reason to come back here.

Furthermore, the Landgut offers a restaurant, a nice pool and a wellness area with sauna and steam bath. As you can understand, we’re just fine here.

The sommelier takes us on a wine journey across the property. We meet all animals living there, walk through the old vineyards, taste some grapes directly of the rank and end with a tasting in the cellar.

Dining at in-house restaurant Kreuzwirt is a real recommendation. You can notice how much they’re focussed on the wines at this place: in the 7-course menu,, it’s the wines that are put on stage instead of the dishes. And they truly deserve to be put there.
